Digital twins expand the spectrum and bring forth new potentials and challenges in equal measure – for example, in engineering, production planning, and the respective supporting systems. To enable 24/7, seamlessly integrated and bi-directional data connections, far-reaching scenarios are therefore necessary. Once these are established, innovative approaches such as closed-loop manufacturing, circular economy and shared mobility can also be implemented.
