For the Milan Design Week 2024, Yasmine Mahmoudieh with Metagate has developed 2 parallel experiences in Augmented Reality accessible from smartphones and headsets, at the Lampo. (https://isola.design/milan-design-week-2024 ) Isola’s annual theme for 2024 is a statement to provoke mainly but not only the design community into action. This Future is Currently Unavailable, so it’s up to us to change it rather than give up. The smartphone experience was created on the Over the Reality platform. The phygital experience aims to enhance the narrative of the artist who used recycled plastic reprinted in 3D for his creations. In AR on Over the Reality the lack of physical limitations was exploited to position a giant 3 meter chair. Furthermore, a body of water has been inserted on which some plastic bottles float; by clicking on the bottles they transform into the artist's works. Finally, a further interaction allows the space to be digitally "flooded", with the body of water expanding and filling the room (thanks to the "occlusion" technology) to recall the underlying risk of rising oceans. For those who would like to try the headset, there will also be one available on site, and it will be possible to manipulate the design object: moving it, changing its color and enlarging it with the sole use of your hands (no controllers). MetaBrera is my thesis project and it represents not just the first academic baseline about didactic, pedagogic and cultural development related to NFT and Crypto Art in Italy, but it is also the first "group" that maintains contacts with institutions outside the University sphere. The thesis concerns the most modern topic of art, such as the use of NFT in the artistic field. It employs a critical insight and it focuses on each artist, rather than highlighting the Crypto field itself; it shows how this new "mean" can be employed for the benefit of someone's own creativity.
