Mariachi Day, 21st January 2024

Mariachi Day celebrates the rich cultural heritage of mariachi music, a symbol of Mexican identity and history. Originating in the 18th century in western Mexico, mariachi began as a regional folk style called “son jalisciense” in Jalisco. It evolved from indigenous and Spanish theatrical orchestras, becoming the heart of Mexican music. Notably, UNESCO recognized mariachi as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011, acknowledging its role in fostering cultural identity. Today, Mariachi groups typically consist of violins, trumpets, a guitar, a vihuela, and a guitarrón. Their vibrant performances, featuring elaborate charro outfits, captivate audiences worldwide. Statistics show mariachi's growing popularity. In the US alone, over 60 school districts have mariachi programs, nurturing young talent and ensuring the tradition's survival. Surprisingly, Japan has a flourishing mariachi scene, with groups like Mariachi Samurai, showcasing its global appeal. Fun fact: The world's largest mariachi concert was in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2009, with 549 musicians playing together! Mariachi Day is not just about music; it's a celebration of cultural resilience and unity, transcending borders and generations. Let's embrace the joyous strains of mariachi, a timeless symbol of cultural pride and communal spirit. 🎶🇲🇽 #MariachiDay #Mexico #Music More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariachi Art by Dall-E, text supported by ChatGPT.

Wuff! My name is Lotte and I am my family's beloved Maltese dog. I turned 5 on december 12th of 2023. I love going on a voyage in summer and winter but I despise walking in the rain. Sleeping is what I really enjoy and in the morning I wake up everyone with a sock in my mouth to calm me down because I get so excited when they get up. When they reminded me of how cute I am, I can finally go back to sleep while the others go to work. I patiently wait for Lena and her mom to return back home to keep me busy. When I am hungry I expect a treat so I go to the kitchen cabinet and scratch the door. That is my usual journey, sometimes we are as well visiting my best friend Missi, a fluffy Pomeranian. I am a super happy dog!

I have come to Bayer AG to explore what can be explored. I am a 15 year old student from North Rhine Westphalia and my interests contain a wide spectrum from biology and languages to tennis and dancing. With the chance of the participation in this internship I can expand the view on work life and research here in Bayer. Keep in mind: No matter what we know it is only a fraction of what can be discovered. Art by ChatGPT.
