Valentine's Day, celebrated on February 14th, is a day dedicated to love and affection. Its origins can be traced to both Christian and Roman traditions. The name "Valentine" likely comes from two Christian martyrs named Valentine who lived in the Roman Empire during the 3rd century. One of the legends surrounding Valentine suggests that he defied Emperor Claudius II's ban on marriages for young men, as Claudius believed that single men made better soldiers. Valentine continued to perform marriages in secret and was eventually arrested and executed on a February 14th. Legend says, he sent a love letter to his jailer's daughter, signing it "From your Valentine," which is a phrase still used today. Valentine's Day gained popularity over the centuries. In the Middle Ages, it became associated with romantic love. In the 19th century, the exchange of love notes and cards became a common practice. Today, Valentine's Day is a global occasion. 200+ million roses are grown, 20+ Billion USD are spent, 190+ million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged in the US alone. Piquant: Among people surveyed, 20% of men purchase gifts for multiple partners, while only 6% of women do the same. Today is perfect for quality time with your partner, or, maybe, embracing the opportunity to finally express affection to your secret love. Be Decent, Virtuous and Brave and —ask them to be your Valentine! More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine%27s_Day Art by Dall-E, text supported by ChatGPT.

Daniel Bernoulli, born 1700 into the renowned Bernoulli family of mathematicians, was a Netherlands-born Swiss polymath who made significant contributions across various scientific disciplines, including fluid dynamics, mathematics, and statistics. Daniel studied medicine but his interests were wide-ranging, encompassing mathematics and physics. His work "Hydrodynamica" (1738) profoundly impacted the understanding of fluid mechanics, introducing the principle that as the speed of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases—a foundational concept in aerodynamics and hydrodynamics known today as Bernoulli's principle. Bernoulli's family was competitive, to say the least. His relationship with his father Johann Bernoulli was strained due to professional rivalries. Despite this, he achieved recognition in his own right, earning prestigious positions and the admiration of his contemporaries. His contributions were not only fluid dynamics. In Economics, Daniel introduced the Bernoulli principle, explaining how people make decisions involving risk—cornerstone of utility theory. In Medicine, he applied mathematical analysis to diseases like (Wikipedia) ..."analysis of smallpox morbidity and mortality data to demonstrate the efficacy of inoculation" (Simplifying: Crude vaccination). His legacy is a testament to the power of interdisciplinary research and intellectual curiosity. More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Bernoulli Art&Text supported by ChatGPT.

Today we celebrate the enduring tradition and global popularity of choral singing, a communal art form that unites voices in harmony and expression. The oldest choral repertory known is from ancient Greece, 2nd century BC. Gregorian chants in churches starting in 400 AD also formed the early sounds of choirs. With the development of polyphony with more than one singer per part around the year 1400, choral music expanded its range and complexity, notably during the Reformation when homophonic music emerged around the early 17th century, emphasizing the alignment of melody and text. Choral singing eventually transcended its religious roots, thus gaining creative freedom. This led to significant compositions like Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 1824, which famously incorporated choirs. Popularity remains strong today with innovative projects like Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir with 35,000+ singers from 145 countries. In the U.S. there has been a renaissance since the 20th century under the influence of figures like Robert Shaw. Today choral singing is the most popular form of participation in the performing arts there, with some 43 million Americans involved in choruses. It's especially popular among children. Dedicated specially to the Wedding Singers, the Bayer Berlin Choir, that use their voices to give us togetherness and feeling our collective greater than us individuals.
