In collaboration with the estate, EXPANDED.ART is pleased to present the solo show CODED BEAUTY by Herbert W Franke. The show is comprised of eight works of Franke’s series MATH ART created between 1980 and 1995, early generative photographs from the 1950s, his Biennale serigraphy including QUADRATE (1969/70) and further serigraphies. Herbert W. Franke held the belief that the beauty of structures shown in visual arts is founded on mathematical codes throughout his entire career. He spent a lifetime in search of them. In the 1950s, he started generating art based on mathematical principles, which led to his first pieces, LICHTFORMEN and OSZILLOGRAMME, and finally used computer programs from the 1960s on. He began working on the enormous body of work MATH ART in 1980 with the programmer Horst Helbig. Over the course of 15 years, he methodically analyzed the mathematical conceptual worlds, from algebra to stochastics, for the aesthetic component. Even to the spectator who is unfamiliar with mathematics, the opulent visualizations reveal quite varied aesthetic frameworks.

He has connected with web3/NFT creators and communities in Chicago, New York, Denver, Mexico City, Germany, London, Canada, Miami and LA; meeting artists and community-builders in real life strengthens the bonds we all build online. This POAP token is created to commemorate my auctions for my first and second Watercolors on Ethereum. Unlimited Curiosity is the first JeffJag token listed for sale (since I minted my patch logo to keep), on my ERC721 custom smart contract created through Manifold Studio. Time-Lapse Geometry Battle is the second watercolor and last NFT artwork I minted in 2021. The first twitter spaces to open the auction was so much fun caused the genesis of a new website: JeffJagForCutie.com (created simultaneously by Matt, Jessica, and Mike, in a blur of hive mind thoughts) which will now be used as a re-direct to my collection page for the JEFFJAG token collection.
