This diverse community faces unique challenges, with 80% residing in developing countries. Among them, physical disabilities, encompassing mobility and sensory impairments, affect a significant portion, while mental health conditions, including intellectual disabilities and mental illnesses, impact many others. Their experiences highlight the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and equal opportunities in every sphere of life. The day, observed by the United Nations since 1992, serves as a reminder of the progress made and the work that remains. While strides in technology and policy have improved lives, gaps in healthcare, education, and employment persist.
