This historic upgrade is projected to reduce the Ethereum network's energy consumption by over 99% and sets the stage for future upgrades to further scale the Ethereum network. This initial public testnet merge is an important technical milestone for the Ethereum network that paves the way for other testnets and the Mainnet merge.
