About nine hundred years ago, a tribe called the Aztecs were told by their gods that to the south lay a fertile land where they would found a great city in the future. Led by their tribal god Huitzilopochtli, they abandoned their homeland, Hicomoztoc, also called the Seven Caves. They began an arduous three-hundred-year journey southward in search of a new place to live.
