Cubavera proudly celebrates Hispanicnic Heritage Month (now through Oct. 15th) with a dynamic musical performance that pays homage to the harmonic power and beauty of cultural inclusivity. The festivities kick off with a limited edition capsule collection in partnership with the internationally acclaimed Grammy Award winning sensation, Yotuel Romero, lead singer of Orisha’s, born in Havana, Cuba circa 1999 and known for their musical style infusing contemporary Latin and Afro-American hip hop with traditional Cuban sounds. Cubavera has also commissioned renowned Cuban fine artist, Tony Mendoza to create vibrant pop-art inspired by Cuban heritage and culture. Custom wearables inspired by the collection will be gifted out to various V.I.P.s in attendance of the performance. It started out as singer/songwriter Alex Ellis on his own writing and performing solo in whatever London bar would have him. Partly a way to shake the out of work actor funk he'd found himself in and party to vent a rage that only living through years of Tory led, post financial crash/pre Brexit Britain can give a person (we were all feeling it long before 2016). He would soon find kindred spirits Henry Senior (pedal steel/dobro), Greg Bishop (drums/harmonies) and Tom Rosenfeld (bass) to form the band. Their music? You can't put your finger on it and maybe you don't need to anyway. It lies somewhere between indie, folk and Americana; basically just a band playing the songs that come to them about the things they were moved enough by to write down. Fortunately the band received sufficient support and encouragement to push through the earliest 2020's and came out the other side having toured the UK and Europe several times, with many new friends, a sense of hope and a new album to boot.

Taking influence from the The Everly Brothers to Simon & Garfunkel, John Martyn to the countrified Grateful Dead, Smith & Brewer combine classic close harmony style with superbly honed songwriting craft and stunningly virtuosic guitar playing to produce a brilliantly accessible roots sound. They have played together all over the UK, notably as the support act to 10cc and Ralph McTell on their 2018 U.K tours, at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention 2018, the 2018 Cambridge Folk Festival and the UK Americana Awards Showcase in 2017 and 2019,, as well as at the AmericanaFest in Nashville in 2017. They recently contributed backing vocals to Ralph McTell’s New Album, which was produced by Tony Visconti. 'Jaw-dropping!'
