Georgia O'Keeffe was one of the most influential figures in Modernism painting. She painted natural subjects like flowers and bones in addition to NYC skyscrapers and New Mexico landscapes. Today, she is arguably most known for her up-close depictions of flowers. She was one of the first artists to utilize the idea of abstraction so that she could practice self-expression through her art rather than simply portraying what she sees.
