Soundr presents Cody Frost - Evolution Stage CODY FROST Cody Frost has experienced a lot on the road to her new music, heady highs and crashing lows, despair and disillusionment, self-care and catharsis. In truth, she’s been scrutinised for as long as she’s been making music. Aged 13, encouraged by her musician mum, she was sharing versions of songs by Frank Ocean, Nirvana and Slipknot on YouTube. By 14 she was taking the 45-minute bus trip from her native Burnley to Manchester to busk. It was an experience that helped Cody’s voice develop its power. This current 6-piece incarnation is just the tip of a 40 strong musical collective of master musicians, gathered by band leader Oshan Mahony from remote Turkish villages, Indian Chai shops and Hackney warehouse parties. Exploring the musics of the Middle East, they mix (amongst others) the Klesmer of the Askenazi Jews, with Turkish Arabs songs and the Balkan sounds of the Romi gypsies. Leonie is a well respect singer and guitarist, performing a mixture of her own compositions and tunes mainly from the 1940's and earlier. @Music_Leonie ICHI ICHI is a performance artist, musician and instrument maker, originally from Japan, now living in the UK. ICHI's song are performed on his mad array of homemade instruments. They are often about animals and burst with naive charm, as well as a pumping bassline. Entertainment at its finest. @ICHIcreator SHAMA RAHMAN Scientist, explorer and exquisite sitar player, from the Ravi Shanker school of teaching. Shama is not afraid to explore and experiment with the outer limits of folk, jazz and traditional Indian music. @TheShamaRahman FLATS & SHARPS Flats & Sharps are a four-piece bluegrass outfit from Penzance, Cornwall. Delivering energetic, enthusiastic and spirited bluegrass to audiences around the world, Flats & Sharps have been performing their unique take on this music for over a decade. Mixing their own compositions with barn-shaking traditional standards.
