Danny Ryan is best known as the key researcher and facilitator for the transition in Ethereum from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS), often regarded as a modern engineering marvel. The transition to Proof of Stake reduced the energy footprint of Ethereum by more than 99%, it brought increased efficiency, increased security, increased scalability, and greater decentralization to Ethereum. Danny is also regarded as a central figure in developing the core ethos and vision of Ethereum as a chain committed to long term sustainability and decentralization. Danny's leadership and commitment to making Ethereum sustainable have been vital to the success of the Ethereum beacon chain. On September 13, 2024, Danny announced that he was moving on from this work. As a community, we are deeply appreciative of Danny's efforts and we wish him the best. Collecting this POAP involves a 0.001 Ether donation to the Protocol Guild.

After many years of progress and a lengthy approval process, Spot Ethereum Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) opened for trading on July 23, 2024. The SEC approved eight ETFs, including the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust (ETH), Franklin Ethereum ETF (EZET), VanEck Ethereum ETF (ETHV), Bitwise Ethereum ETF (ETHW), 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF (CETH), Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH), BlackRock's (BLK) iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) and the Invesco Galaxy Ethereum ETF (QETH). Funds raised from this POAP will go to Aestus. The Aestus MEV-Boost Relay is a neutral, non-censoring relay, which emerged from conversations between members of the EthFinance and EthStaker communities who see the need to develop credibly neutral architecture for the Ethereum staking ecosystem. On January 22, 2024, @DCInvestor publicly stated that he was removing his staked Ether from Coinbase due to their lack of action regarding Execution Layer client diversity. Coinbase arranged a call with DCInvestor, and Brian replied "Taking a look." The Ethereum community aligns deeply with Coinbase and we appreciate their advocacy and willingness to promote our shared success. On January 21, 2024 Nethermind validators suddenly went offline at block 257,913. Thanks to Nethermind being a minority client, network participation drop was only ~10% and the chain was unaffected! Proceeds will be sent to the Smoothly pool (https://smoothly.money/) to support solo stakers. POAP design created by ElectroPillow.eth.

The address which minted this POAP participated in the KZG Summoning Ceremony: a publicly coordinated ritual to produce a random output. This output will be used in Proto-Danksharding, aka EIP 4844: an Ethereum scaling mechanism which will hopefully enable lower Layer 2 fees and greater global accessibility. EIP-4844 is expected to go live with the Dencun network upgrade in the near future. As of the time of writing, this ceremony was the largest setup of this kind when considering the number of contributions.
