Yoshiki Ohshima (Chief Scientist, Co-founder) of The Croquet Team hosted the event at wine-lounge in HENKAKU. ■ Purpose of the event Computers aren’t just devices that are fed content created by somebody else—they can unleash people’s creativity and let us create whatever we want to have. However, creating on a computer involves telling them what to do. This is called programming. Some people consider programming as something difficult for professionals and not for themselves. This is not true, as there have been some successful systems that were open to everyone, although they did not become mainstream. Yoshiki will discuss what the computer pioneers meant by "augmenting human intellect" and how Croquet Microverse draws upon the idea. He will speculate what the future could be. Yoshiki has been working with groups whose goal is to enable this. He has co-authored a paper with Mitch Resnick of MIT Scratch and others titled "Growing Up Programming: Democratizing the Creation of Dynamic, Interactive Media" and has worked on Squeak Etoys.
