Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, JULIAN JEANMARIE is JUFU. He’s played the guitar since age nine, written & produced songs, films, and music videos. JUFU’s passion for music begins with his Haitian roots. He attended Edward R. Murrow High School - home to Joey BadA$$ and the Pro Era rap collective - and joined the school’s “Music x Technology” program in 2016. This played a huge impact in his artistry, fostering interests in music and teaching him the fundamentals of filmmaking, while harvesting the idea of how his social media hobby could supplement his musical aspirations. The JUFU track, “Who R U,” became an instant hit, not only going viral on TikTok but also used by celebrities such as Will Smith and Steve Harvey. In late 2019, JUFU signed to Island Records after 15 different label meetings. In 2017, he took a break from social media. During this time, JUFU got heavily into e-commerce and creating online stores. Through this interest, he was introduced to crypto.
