Herein is depicted El Morro, the historical landmark in Cuba. Named after the three biblical magi as the “Castle of the Three Wise Men of the Rock" ("Morro Castle"), the fortress guards the entrance into Havana bay. The design was created by engineer Batista Antonelli and built in 1589. This mighty structure, symbolic of Cuba’s resilience, has endured oscillating historical moments of conquest, colonialism, dictatorship, and revolution for over 531 years. Michelle stated many times that her artwork will also last for over five hundred years. Michelle portrayed the precise detail of the stone blocks of the fort, which affix it sturdily onto the cliff. Aquí se representa El Morro, el hito histórico de Cuba. Nombrada en honor a los tres magos bíblicos como el "Castillo de los Tres Reyes Magos del Morro", la fortaleza protege la entrada a la bahía de La Habana. El diseño fue creado por el ingeniero Batista Antonelli y construido en 1589. Esta poderosa estructura, símbolo de la resistencia de Cuba, ha soportado momentos históricos oscilantes de conquista, colonialismo, dictadura y revolución durante más de 531 años. Michelle declaró muchas veces que su obra de arte también durará más de quinientos años. This POAP commemorates the opening day of Michelle Trunzo’s first exhibition organized by her descendants. This exhibition was held in conjunction with the revealing of the José Martí statue by the Martí Historical Society, Inc., with well-known guests Andy García and Enrique Chia. This day, June 26, 2021, was officially declared José Martí Day. These events took place at the Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, and were hosted by the National Monuments Foundation.
