This northern Italian Lago scene depicts, in Michelle’s own words, “A time for lunch," as several families seem to be gathering and joyfully sharing meals beneath the bright sunlight. Once again, she graces her canvas with European architecture, with additional specific detail to the tall trees, as well as the fence in the distance which conveys a remarkable depth of space. This mighty structure, symbolic of Cuba’s resilience, has endured oscillating historical moments of conquest, colonialism, dictatorship, and revolution for over 531 years. Michelle stated many times that her artwork will also last for over five hundred years. Michelle portrayed the precise detail of the stone blocks of the fort, which affix it sturdily onto the cliff.
