In today’s class we began by splitting up into pairs and creating our own daily conversations! At the end we read them out loud, after some technical corrections were made, and we found out that many of us were already making plans to hike, go dancing and travel to the financial capital of the world! We even made a pact to go on X and tweet a recipe in English step by step. I hope to see your creations soon!

English Class #0033 - Scripts POAP image

Today we practiced different skills by reading an excerpt from The Little Prince. We saw new vocabulary, reading comprehension and even pronunciation. It just goes to show that with one exercise you can practice many more things than you thought!

English Class #0031 - Reading out loud POAP image

On this occasion we had the fortune of speaking with Angela Ocando about all sorts of things going on in the crypto world. It was so much fun that we’re definitely thinking about making a segment with featured guests every once in a while.

English Class #0030 - Conversations with Ocando POAP image

Well, we decided to make a list of those tricky words that we just can’t seem to pronounce correctly and are just too darn confusing. Taking those words we analyzed the sounds carefully and found that we confuse the way we write with the way we say things. With a few corrections and a bit of practice we were able to see our pronunciation deviations and finally introduce consonants!

English Class #0023 - What can’t we pronounce? POAP image

We are finally back after our short break and we started off with our Basic classes on Tuesday. We took three random pictures and began writing a story. From what we wrote we learned to analyze what things we are missing individually in our learning process and so, we were able to give out useful tips like how to create a Digital English glossary and put all those words to practice as well as the usefulness of reading more in English and the benefits of picking up on key phrases for daily conversation.

English class #0021 - Express yourself POAP image

After reviewing some basic concepts we tried to see the future…tense. No need for a crystal ball or anything, once we learned the basics everyone was on a roll. But the best part of all was when everyone turned on their cameras at the end and we finally took a group picture. Yay!

English Class #0019 - Future Tenses POAP image

On our 16th class we took a closer look at this perfect tense and saw that things weren’t so perfect and sometimes a bit confusing. We only needed a bit of guidance, though, because we compared this tense to our usual expressions in Spanish as well as the other tenses. It was difficult for some time but we all got through it like champs! Congrats!

English Class #0016 - Present Perfect pt. 1 POAP image

So, somehow, on our 13th class, we started off with differences between “good” and “well”, then switched to “-ing” ending words and different uses in different structures, went past an explanation of “would” and then finished it off with tenses review and introduction to the perfect tense! So many topics in so little time, but it was definitely worth every minute. Congratulations to everyone that participated! You all did an outstanding job.

On our second pronunciation class we reviewed the American vowel sounds /ɪ/, /I/, /ɑ/, /ə/ and /æ/. We had the chance to write a small paragraph and try to identify the placement of the first three sounds using our own expressions and most common words. We learned that not everything is at it seems because English doesn't sound like it is written and our brains trick us into producing the sounds that we already know. But don't worry! With constant practice and no fear, we will continue to improve our pronunciation for a more fluent speech.
