Taxes for Artists | Web37 Daily 020
2022-03-01
Artists around the world are turning to NFTs and blockchain technology to make a living selling their art, with that, many NFT artists are curious to know how to report their sales on their taxes. Thankfully, we had the chance to sit down with Alex, who’s an NFT CPA to discuss this exact topic. As an NFT artist, all NFTs that you create and then sell are taxed as ordinary income. Just like creating and selling a piece of art in the real world, NFT art isn’t taxed much differently. Additionally, NFT artists are eligible to receive various tax deductions for their supplies, events, and even certain gas fees. To learn more about how NFTs are taxed and what’s considered deductible, check out the full article linked below! Twitter @TheNFTCPA @137pm
Badorange - Relentless Podcast
2022-02-24
Relentless is a show about what it takes to make it as an entrepreneur, especially in the wild west of NFTs. It's hosted by Badfroot (aka Jack Davidson) and Jeff Sarris. The first most important step is to get started. The next is to be relentless. Join the show live on Twitter Spaces and watch the replay on YouTube (https://youtube.com/jeffsarris) or listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. About Jack Jack grew up on the East End of Long Island, New York. Before he became a full-time artist he did sales and marketing, sold real estate in the Hamptons, and worked part-time in a group home for underprivileged/incarcerated youth. When he learned about NFTs from one of his close friends he gave up his career in sales, dove headfirst into learning how the space worked, and eventually created SkullKids, the original 1/1s now known as SkullKids: Immortal. The generative, 10K SkullKids project is the next evolution of SkullKids and the Badfroot empire. Learn more at https://badfroot.com About Jeff As cofounder of SPYR (https://SPYR.me), Jeff’s spent the last decade-plus behind the scenes helping entrepreneurs develop their brands and businesses. His most recognized work is with The Minimalists and on the Netflix documentary, Minimalism. He’s also the host of several podcasts: Starting Now, where he dives into NFT origin stories, Kidney Stone Diet, and Relentless.
