The festivities kick off with a limited edition capsule collection in partnership with the internationally acclaimed Grammy Award winning sensation, Yotuel Romero, lead singer of Orisha’s, born in Havana, Cuba circa 1999 and known for their musical style infusing contemporary Latin and Afro-American hip hop with traditional Cuban sounds. Cubavera has also commissioned renowned Cuban fine artist, Tony Mendoza to create vibrant pop-art inspired by Cuban heritage and culture. Custom wearables inspired by the collection will be gifted out to various V.I.P.s in attendance of the performance. Two compelling improvisers emerging from London’s jazz scene, James Kitchman (UK) & Sylvia Schmidt (DE) are an accomplished guitar-vocal duo. Originally drawn together by the richness and variety of the jazz tradition, they have recently explored more diverse sources of inspiration, including Anglo-American folk ballads of the Appalachian mountains. Their sound embraces the dynamic tension between forces of preservation and transformation, creating a space in which the haunting beauty of nostalgia and irresistibility of change intersect.

The partnership was born in 2016, when the two London-based guitarists came together for a concert and discovered a like-minded approach to music. Their musical connection has developed with each meeting since. They share a respect of jazz traditions but also a love of expanding these to incorporate elements from folk and electronic music, as well as ambient styles and free improvisation. Together, they’ve built a unique, intimate setup and found a way of conversing that’s equally unassuming and thought-provoking.
