Historical NFT Museum Series 7 - with Mooncats About The HNFT Museum highlights the work of 25+ NFT communities from 2011 to 2019 and is a community based initiative curated by the CryptoSkulls DAO. It is our responsibility to not only tell our Skull story but to also create a platform that gives our friends in other historical NFT communities a voice. We provide education both virtually & IRL and we welcome new collectors to learn about the history of NFTs and their provenance in one single portal. Mooncats MoonCats are a collection of 25,440 generative pixel art cats created on August 9th, 2017 on the Ethereum blockchain by the development team, ponderware. The first MoonCat (MoonCat #0) was minted a day later on August 10th, 2017 by ponderware. Nearly four years later on March 13th, 2021, Justin Trimble, Allen Henna, ETHHoard, and a several other NFT community members shared on Twitter that they had discovered an ancient contract that was the "2nd NFT on Ethereum", with nearly 20,000 free mints still available out of the 25,600 contract max. Within hours all of the free mints had been claimed and over 5,000 individual wallets had participated. This moment is often referred to as the MoonCat Rescue and is attributed with giving birth to the "NFT Archaeology" movement. Since then MoonCats has grown to over 7,000 unique owners, has accumulated nearly 30,000 ETH of total volume, and has been featured at auction houses such as Sotheby's.

HNFT Museum - Historical NFT Series #1 - Punycodes Punycodes - May 10, 2011 [Namecoin] @Punycodes2011 HNFT Museum is a proud collaborator and partner with Punycodes and interviewing the first series on 23/01/2023 with Punycodes to explore and capture their history and story within the NFT historical timeline. Punycodes ("Punys") are considered by many to be the first art NFTs. They are a community curated collection of texts, symbols, emojis, and ASCII art minted as on-chain domain names on the Namecoin blockchain starting in 2011. Punycodes illustrate the innate human desire to leverage blockchain technologies to create and own pieces of art. All Punycodes are represented by their distinguishing "xn--" prefix. They employ special encoding to convert Unicode characters to ASCII, a subset style representation that requires a decoder to see the contained art. There is also a separate Punycodes collection found on the Emercoin blockchain (a fork of Namecoin blockchain) with a similar technical and artistic pattern of Namecoin Punycodes. The Twitter rediscovery happened in mid January 2022 and these assets were quickly claimed in a fair manner. [6] This has ensured a healthy holder distribution for Punycodes and resulted in a significant number of collectors holding them. Punycodes DAO expresses its respect for artists and creators, and wants to recognize original Punycodes creators for the true pioneers they are.
